Evaluation and monitoring of desertification in arid and semi-arid areas is are one of the main concerns for communities and governments involved in this issue, given the growing trend of desertification. Meanwhile, detecting the areas subjected to desertification to manage and control it in the shortest possible time, and at the lowest cost, is of high necessity. Especially in border areas such as Hamoun International Wetland as, the largest wetland in the arid region of southeastern Iran, which is located between Iran and Afghanistan. To monitor the desertification rate and intensity in different periods (August 1999, 2009, 2015, and 2020), Albedo and NDVI indices were calculated based on the SEBAL algorithm using remote sensing technology.
