In Florence, Italy, there was a period called the Italian Renaissance. Italy was broken up into cities and people states. The name renaissance is defined as “rebirth”. The word Renaissancerenaissance was namedused for this new time because of the new rebirth of interests of greco-romanGreco-Roman classical art, philosophy, culture, and history happening. For example, Artistsartists found jobs making and creating paintings of classical greco-romanGreco-Roman mythology figures for the wealthy mediciMedici families. These paintings not only stood out, but also were also given a name “birth to rebirth” by the people, recatiouingrecautioning their cultures were changing rapidly.

In the painting, the main characters are nude, suppousyand the woman (Venus Anadyomene) is in the middle. She is seen as apeatingappearing from the water, like a mermaid, while also being carried by an angel down to shore after giving birth.
