In this extractsextract, Iago is presented as confident that his plan will succeed, but also darkshows his darkness.
‘’young mistresses dog’’ thisThe "young mistress's dog" metaphor gives a sense of comedic element, an element that Iago lacks, which could go to showimplies that he’s so confident in his plan, he even jokes around withabout it; this. This metaphor also givesprovides great insight into Iago's character. Iago is a dark, villainous character and his metaphor demonstrates that by his dark humor. Iago then goes to end his dark speech with another metaphor: ‘’ if"If consequences do approve my dream, my boat sails freely both with wind and stream.’’ he" He compares his plans that involve dark villainous elements with a tranquil scene of a boat that sails with no trouble. One would think he’d be worried/stressed ofregarding the fact that his planstrategy might not go as planned, but instead, he is calm and even comedic about it, he labelslabeling his plans as a ‘’dream’’; the"dream." The fact that his dream is to break up a happy, loving couple and kill innocent men in the process saysreveals an incredible amount ofabout him. These metaphors help the reader get an image of how twisted Iago is, which could lead them to believe that Iago's twisted-ness could result in a terrible waysoutcome.
