Angiosperms, that is, flowering plants, can be called the king of the plant world. It is the group with the highest degree of evolution, the most species, the widest distribution, and the strongest adaptability in the plant kingdom. It is known that there are more than 300,000 species of angiosperms in the world, accounting for the vast majority of the total number of plants.
From the perspective of modern genetics, flower development is essentially controlled by several genes, which are roughly divided into three types of genes that control calyx, petals, and stamens. Scientists have proposed an ABC model of flower development according to genetics. Different gene expressions determine the general structure of flowers in different groups of plants, and eventually develop into the floral world we see.
