Not only did the founders of social media change the way we communicate, but they have also changed the nation. Users can acquire educational support and materials; political change and it disseminates useful information rapidly. First it was the mouse. The secondSecond was the click wheel. And now, they have brought multi-touch to the market. Each of these revolutionary interfaces has made possible a revolutionary product possible - The Mac, the iPod, and now the iPhone. Since these tiny computers were invented, it has pushed flip phones into extinction, people now have ultimate multitaskers. Fully loaded with features, ready to download apps, and hooked up to the right data plan, a smart phone can do the work of a whole television or movie studio. All in the palm of our hands’ palmhands. In 2016, the Social Science Computer Review reported that close to one-third of the world's population is engaged with social media and the total number of users is growing annually by 10 percent. Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter are on the rise of the most admired apps today. Users have become addicted to these sites isolating themselves from the real world and reintegrating themselves into the “social” world. While social media comes with its positive usefulness, I say to you; if you are going to use social media, use it to impact people, not to enthrall people. Individuals need to withdraw from their excessive use of social media because it is overwhelming human behavior, causing depression, suicide, low self-esteem, and even loneliness.
