A specific experience that has affected my relationship with reading, writing, and/or technology was when I decided to challenge myself to take IB classes during high school. Throughout my years in high school, I felt that I could be a strong writer, and improve my writing. The International Baccalaureate (IB) at my school ishas a challenging two-year curriculum. During my junior year, and through my senior year of high school, I took IB courses and noticed a significant improvement in my writing, reading, and as well as the use of technology. I developed my research skills, learned how to incorporate evidence into my writing, and how to provide analysis with every assigned writingwriting assignment. The most significant writing assignment I completed was during IB History class when I took the paper 1 exam. This assignment required me to be a critical observer and analytical thinker, by using a technique that helps analyze historical documents.
TheThis technique of writing is called OPCVL (Origin, Purpose, Content, Value, Limitation). I discovered how incredibly beneficial this was to me because I had to think about both values and limitations when reading the sources given to me. It was not easy at first, because these things were being newly introduced to me in my junior year. Though going into senior year with the amounta lot of practice in class, I had got good at itsignificantly improved. I never wanted to avoid seeking out different points of view from others.
