Throughout my undergraduate I studiedstudies I researched the West African region and I spent time there upon graduation. In Mali and Senegal, I witnessed many occasions of violationviolations of international humanitarian and human rights laws, and there is so much work to be done to bring some change to thethese countries. Not always and allAll international support is necessary, though. There is an ongoing armed conflict in the north of Mali, and neither UN peacekeepers nor the French military with mixed EU troops are able to contribute to the stability and security inof the country. Due to the colonial legacy, the conflict is veryextremely hard to resolve, and the foreign forces make it even more complicated. The help that is undoubtedly needed is offrom humanitarian aid organizations likesuch as the Red Cross Committee. They are making the real difference for people in this conflict and worldwide, that. That is why I want to join the organizationRed Cross.

The realityReality is created by people and people may be wrong in doing so, thisdoing wrong. This is absolutely clear in George Floyd’s tragic incidentdeath and Iyad al-Hallak's fatal mistakeloss. I do believe that by gaining knowledge through the Conflict Resolution and Mediation MA Program and working in the International Committee of the Red Cross, I will be able to contribute to eliminating human errors, especially such as these. One error, which might cost one life, is worth to preventpreventing because saving one life is saving the entire world, as the Talmud teaches us.
