Mrs. Simington is a mother of Jeremy, age 9, Joshua, age 11, and a 1-year old1-year-old daughter. She was referred to a marriage and family therapy because she was having some problems with her family that hashave recently have increased. Her sons started to get ininto trouble a lot and stopstopped listening to her. Mrs. Simington was working part-time prior to her daughterdaughter's birth. She now works full timefull-time. She and her Husbandhusband have been really stressed recently. The arrival of the daughter to the family was unexpected and has caused a lot of financial problems for the family. She has a good relationship with her husband, but she feels that their relationship has been stainedwas strained for the first time when they had a heated argument about wherewhether they should keep the baby or abort the baby. Her relationship with her boys is also good, but her relationship with Jeremy is better than her relationship with Joshua. That’s because Joshua is comingbecoming more independent as he is entering his adolescence. With her husband always working, it has been so hard for Mrs. Simington to manage thingthings between her job, caring for the baby, and her boys worsenboys' worsening behaviors. She complained that she had her kids way totoo early, before she fully developed her career. She had no social life after her daughter was born. She is worried that she won’t be able to bring up her sons effectively.
