I decided to study physics when I learnt about the Doppler effect in theat school. It explains a curious phenomenon, which has caught my eye since I was a child. The type of sound from sirens we hear while an ambulance approaches is different from the one when the car goes away. The use and application of mathematics for the description of everyday experiences havehas always deeply fascinated me. Later, I discovered that my field of study was much broader than I had thought. With the first lectures in modern physics, I had to start to looklooking at the world in a completely new and interesting way. I spent hours struggling with particles located at different positions at the same moment and time passing slower or faster depending on the observer moving or staying at rest. These concepts appeared to be extremely counter intuitive. I quickly realized my only option was to verify the correctnessaccuracy of their mathematical proof and accept the fact they were experimentally observed. Talking to my relatives and friends about what I am doing has become more and more a challenging task. How could one explain what we are learning in the Quantum Field Theory course if your audience is new to the concept of "quantum" and associate the word "field" with football? MakeMaking science accessible to the general public is the goal and thea dream job of my life. After every analysis class I give to first-year physics and mathematics students, I feel delighted: I like having contact with people, helphelping them understand something new, and I appreciate the beauty of science.
