The Burnell’sBurnells had snobby personalities. The family believes they’re better than the Kelveys, because they’re rich and Isabel is very popular in school. “Many of the children, including the Burnells, were not allowed even to speak to them. noticed that Aunt Burnell was being a hypocrite. She was seeing someone named Willie Brent and their relationship remained a secret. She tells the girls to not talk to the lower class, but she dodid it behind their backs. “A letter had come from Willie Brent, a terrifying, threatening letter, saying if she did not meet him that evening in Pulman’s Bush, he’d come to the front door and ask the reason why!” It’s awful to tell someone not to do something but then you do it anyway. You’re supposed to practice what you preach.
