One Saturday on the morning of June 12, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA, there’s a mother named Danielle Walker. She’s in a huge garage standing in the middle of piles and piles of old boxes and old things. Her husband recently died 2two months ago of cancer. And Danielle wants to clean out the garage and make it into an art studio for her daughter, an 11K-yearK-old Sophie, who is autistic.
As Danielle stands in the garage on the verge of tears, she calls out to Sophie, “Sophie come outside to the garage, I have something to show you.” As Sophie hears her mom’s voice, she stops drawing instantly and runs out of her room to the garage.
As she’s huffing and puffing sSophie says, “Yes mom, what dido you want to show me?”
Danielle replies, “Look baby, mom is gonna turn this into an art studio for you, what do you think?”
As Sophie looks up at her mom through her glasses and begins to cry andshe says, “Thanks mom, I just wish Dad wasere here to watch me draw and play with me!”
“I know Sophie, but he will always be with you here.
As Sophie’s mom touches her head and her heart., Aas Sophie wipes her tears andshe says, “Yes, mom. I just miss him so much.”
“I know baby, me too.”
At the exact moment, Danielle’s phone rings. “Sophie look around and get some ideas. I’ll be right back, Danielle says as she’s walking out to the house.
Sophie begins to walk around in the garage looking through boxes and old suit cases, old dresser drawers. As she gets to the back of the garage, she sees a tall locker. Sophie pulls the lock off and opens the locker. A huge set of golf clubs fall forward on to her for a brief second as nd the clubs knock Sophie down. Sophie looks into this huge locker and as she begins to stand up, she sees huge trophies and gold plates, crystal statues, green jackets, yellow jackets, and red plaid jackets with the logo "P.G.A." on everything. She begins to read the trophies with her father’s name on them. Sophie’s father, Dale Walker, was a member of the P.G.A. and before she was born, he won 18eighteen major tournaments worldwide. As Sophie is looking through the locker, she sees pictures of her father with the best golfers in the world;: Lion Woods, Jordan Meeks, Jason Play and Arnold Balmer. Sophie turns to the golf clubs with tears in her eyes then pulls out a driver. She’s so mad that her Dad is gone she begins to swing away!!! She swings at the locker door. Sophie is only 11eleven but she knockeds the locker door off with one swing.
She waits for a second and swings at the garage wall, putting a hole in the wall instantly. Danielle hears the banging and noise and runs outside back to the garage where she sees Sophie swing the club out of the frustration because of her dad. She runs to Sophie before she can draw the club back for another swing and grabs her and hugs her, pulling the golf club from her hands. As she comforts her, staring into Sophie’s eyes, stDaring into Sophie’s eylles and says, “It will be ok Sophie. We’re gonna be ok , baby. Daddy will always be with us.”
As they walk out of the garage hand in hand. With Sophie’s mom thinkings about how hard she swung that golf club, just like her father.
