Module Four: Novice to Expert.
Module fFour will be based on novice to expert theory. This module will reflect upon basic needs and the reasons that why preceptee behave in certain way at particular stage. It will give the opportunity to the preceptor to be mindful of the skills, which could move both preceptor and preceptee towards the progression and successful in the nursing career.
Activities such as discussion on given scenarios could be included.
Module Five: Cultural Competence.
Module fFive will emphasise on significance and implication of cultural competence. In this module participants will go through the themes such as mental health, crisis management, and biases. Thus, this module will help the participants to understand the impact of allthe above included themes in the personal and professional life of a precceptee.
At the end of a module or end of the proctor training program, a cultural feast could be organized to emphasise that living among a culturally diverse population, it is important to involve cultural competence in our education system as well.
Module Six: Problem Solving and Critical Thinking.
In Module sSix participants will learn how to enhance the problem solving skills and develop critical thinking in preceptee and for this purpose activities such as critical mind mapping and problem solving case studies will be introduced to participants.
Module Seven: Time Management.
Module sSeven will give the overview of time management skills to the participant. This module will discuss the importance of time management in daily scheduleing and achieving goals of both preceptor and preceptee. Role-play and group discussion would be arrange at the end of this module however, for online set up, participants could be asked to share their professional experiences with the of time management skills.
Module Eight: Provision of Safe Environment along with Continue Motivation and Appreciation.
Module eEight will draw the attention of participants towards the importance of providing a safe environment and continue motivation and appreciation to preceptee. It is one of the imperative core components to discuss in the preceptor training program because a safe environment and continuous motivation helps in minimizing the anxieties of the learner when they first enter into a new environment. Thus, it fosters confidence in the learner to ask questions and communicate freely without having the distress of reprisals from authorities of not meeting their expectations.
Open communication, strong listening skills, conflict management, and recognising nonverbal and verbal clues are the important elements of success preceptorship. These elements help in building strong preceptor and precetee relationships and provide a safe environment to preceptee. Group activities based on conflict management and active listening will be given consideration for this module.
Module Nine: Effective Evaluation
Module nNine is designed to assist participants in providing effective evaluation by the means of giving continuous feedback or providing summative and formative evaluation at or after a certain time duration. Feedback plays a significant role in preceptee learning. It provides an opportunity for preceptee to improve and grow their knowledge and skills, thus, it is a vital skill, which every preceptor should embrace, to guide preceptee on what is need to do in order to improve their skills. Moreover, Iin this module emphasize will be given ton the importance of feedback on behaviors rather than personal characteristics, and most importantly on that factor, that preceptor and preceptee respect privacy in the process of giving or receiving feedback.
At the end of this module participants will be able to understand the process of providing ongoing evaluation along with how to keep a weekly performance record of preceptee t.
Thus, its will help them to keep a track onf the progression of preceptee. Activities such as role-play, group activities on receiving and giving feedback and self-analysis will be included.
