Field plot experiments were conducted in the spring of 2011, and continued over two growing seasons (2011‒2012) at Shahrekord University, Iran (32 17N, 50 51E and 2048.9 m a.s.l.) on a clay-loam soil, with an average organic matter of 1.97% and pH 7.7. The climate has been warm, sunny, and dry during the spring, with a rainfall of 320.5 mm and 448 mm in the first and second growing seasons, respectively. None of the sites were industrially contaminated, and hence, representative of soils commonly used for wheat production on the Iranian prairies.
