This study aims to describe the reasons for applying cultural, humanistic, and nationalist approaches to support the transformational leadership role of school principals. Besides,, in addition to find outdefining the steps for the transformational leadership role of the principal based on three approaches in optimizing character strengthening programs. This research uses a qualitative approach,; a case study design. Collecting dataData was collected using in-depth interview techniques, participant observation, and documentation study. Data analysis used a varied analytical analysis methodanalyses methods. Data validity assessmentValidity is assessed at the level of credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The research findings explain that principals have basic reasons for adopting cultural, humanistic, and nationalist approaches to support their leadership roles. In addition, the application of transformational leadership behavior based on the existing approachapproaches of school principals has an effective impact in optimizing the implementation of the student character strengthening program.
