People like scary stories because they like the thrill and excitement. Suspense plays a huge role in scary stories. Likelike the “Fall of the House of Usher” because it has tons of suspense and plays a role in how it scares people. In the “Fall of the House of UsherUsher”, Madeline comes back from the dead and bursts out of her coffin and barges into the room, and takes her twin and lover's life.
The allure of fear is loving the sensation of being frightened or scared. In “House Taken Over” scary elements are shown
, but the “scare” or “thrill” is still present. Irene and her brother don’t pay much attention to their house taken over and just stay away from that part of the home. The fear comes from not knowing what is taking over the house. In the story, it doesn't talk about who or why the house is being taken over.
The author of “Fall of the House of Usher” is none other than the famous Edgar Allan Poe and was originally published in 1839
. Unlikeunlike “House Taken Over” by Julio Cortazar, a story about a brother and a sister that liveslive in an ancestral home provided by the income from a family farm. Irene and Irean's brother who is also the narrator dodoes things that normal people do like knitting and reading literature. “Fall of the House of Usher” has little to no realistic parts in it, and the story is way less clear and harder to read. The story used old grammar and big words and lots of details, trying to get the reader to get a good picture of what the house looks like and get a feel of how the narrator connects with the house and the surrounding people.
